Changing of the Leaves
One of the most famous attractions Sanctum Harbor offers to tourists is the changing of the leaves. Occurring between late September and early November, it is a beautiful display of the natural cycle of life and death. Get an early start on all the Halloween fun when you stop by the autumn festivals on your way to Salem, where you can experience the Witch Dungeon and History Museums!
Every year on July 10th, Sanctum Harbor holds Harborfest. Similar to Boston's Chowderfest, it's an opportunity to enjoy fun in the sun with a steaming bowl of the best clam chowder in the world! It's also a great time to indulge in the hearty lobster and crabs hauls plucked from both the Atlantic and the Gulf of Maine.
The Sanctum Harbor Farmer's Market
Though smaller than the market in Sanctuary, Sanctum Harbor's all-organic fare is a real treat for visitors and residents alike. Every Saturday and Sunday morning, Bradbury Park hosts a veritable smörgåsbord of local fruits, vegetables, and other delights. Enjoy all-natural wine or cheese fresh from the dairy farms as you stroll through the stalls serenaded by local artists.
If deep-sea fishing isn't your thing, you can still enjoy fishing off the pier at Lake Kerouac. Enjoy seclusion in one of the few cabins surrounding the lake, or rough it in the campgrounds nearby. Even a day trip to have a swim isn't out of the question! Small boat rentals are also available.
